Four Volusia-Flagler softball teams will continue on.
On May 1, the FHSAA released the playoff brackets during a live YouTube show. Seabreeze and Spruce Creek gained automatic entry via their district championships. Deltona and University secured at-large spots.
Seabreeze will play first among the local clubs. As the No. 8 seed in Region 2-4A, it will travel to top-seeded Eau Gallie on May 6. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
The Sandcrabs (11-12) captured the District 6-4A title with back-to-back shutouts of Pine Ridge and Bishop Moore. They claimed the finals 1-0 with a dominant pitching performance by Alyssa Checho and an RBI single by Samantha Sullivan.
Spruce Creek, Deltona and University will hit the field at 7 p.m. on May 7.
The Hawks (18-7) are the top-ranked program from the Volusia-Flagler area, sitting 60th in the latest state poll. They won the District 2-7A crown over University with the help of two Alexis Minaberry home runs.
In the Region 1-7A quarterfinals, No. 6 Spruce Creek will host No. 3 Apopka, an at-large qualifier.
The seventh-seeded Titans (12-8) will head to No. 2 Hagerty for a first-round matchup in the same region.
Deltona (13-5) also possesses the seventh seed in Region 2-5A. It will go to Gainesville, the second seed, for a rematch of the hotly contested District 5-5A championship game. The Hurricanes stormed back from a 4-1 deficit with six runs in the sixth inning and eventually prevailed 7-6.
The victors will advance to the region semifinals on May 12. The state finals are set for May 19-23 at Boombah-Soldiers Creek Park in Longwood.
