Three people were hospitalized after a vehicle crash on Interstate 375 involving a drunk driver.
According to a post from the Michigan State Police Second District, police received reports of a driver going northbound in the southbound lanes of the freeway around 1 a.m. Saturday on I-375 near East Jefferson Avenue.
Police said the wrong-way driver was a 39-year-old woman from Toledo, Ohio. Police said she crashed head-on into another vehicle that had three people inside. They were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The 39-year-old woman showed signed of intoxication on the crash scene and was arrested for impaired driving, police said.
The freeway was closed for the investigation.
“This is another example of a traffic crash that was totally preventable,” said First Lt. Mike Shaw of the Michigan State Police’s Second District. “There is never a reason to drive impaired. Ever.”
