Simpatico Coffee has relocated to a brand new building in Holland Township, completing a construction project that began last fall at River Avenue and Lakewood Boulevard.
The local coffee shop closed a location at 975 Butternut Drive on April 24 and reopened at 235 N. River Ave. on April 29. The business’ founder, Alex Fink, called the building a “love letter to Holland.”
“The Simpatico employees and myself wanted to build something equally beautiful and functional,” Fink wrote in an email to The Sentinel. “We wanted to create a space that fit our company’s aesthetics and ideals of cleanliness, neighborliness, consistency and to always be moving the business of coffee forward.”
Fink described the sleek, white building as “iterative,” meaning it could be easily replicated.
Fink previously told officials the corner property was purchased by Simpatico Coffee and Doubledog Properties LLC in 2023, with the intention of transforming the space into a vibrant, economic corridor with new architecture and infrastructure. An adjacent building, set to be remodeled, has started advertising for tenants.
Simpatico has a home base/additional location at 714 Michigan Ave. — where the brand creates scratch-made baked goods and breakfast options.
Fink said a supportive community has kept the doors open and good memories going.
“We light up the ‘open’ sign every day hoping we’ll continue to make Holland proud.”
