The New York Giants traded back into the third round of the 2026 NFL draft to select Notre Dame wide receiver Malachi Fields with the 74th overall pick.
Fields is an athletic playmaker with five years of college experience. The former Notre Dame star recorded 2,479 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns across five seasons at Virginia and Notre Dame. He could quickly emerge as a top target for quarterback Jaxon Dart in 2026.
Fields also brings elite versatility. The receiver went 2-of-3 passing for 51 yards in college and served as a trick-play specialist during his time at Virginia. Head coach John Harbaugh could deploy him in a variety of ways.
Fields has showcased serious accuracy on multiple occasions throughout his college career. He has the potential to be a true wild card in the Giants’ offense and possesses all the tools to develop into a star in New York.
Fields will enter training camp this summer as the third or fourth receiver on the depth chart, even with veteran Darius Slayton sidelined by core surgery. A strong showing in camp could catapult him into the No. 2 wide receiver role. The rising star will look to make a major statement this summer ahead of his rookie campaign.
