West Allis beer garden set to open at Liberty Heights Park

A proposed beer garden at Liberty Heights Park in West Allis is now set to become a reality this summer.

Third Space Brewing announced April 29 that it will operate a seasonal beer garden at the park, located at 1540 S. 62nd St., from June through August in partnership with the City of West Allis, according to a news release.

“We are excited to add a new ‘third space’ to our retail offerings in the City of West Allis this summer,” said Third Space Brewing’s co-founder and president, Andy Gehl, in the news release. “We strive to create a welcoming space for neighbors to gather, to watch their kids play together on the playground, or to simply grab a beer and a bite to eat over some good conversation in the neighborhood.”

The new beer garden will open with a ribbon-cutting event at 4 p.m. June 5 and will be open Fridays from 4 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 3 to 9 p.m. through Aug. 29.

What to expect

According to the release, the beer garden will operate out of the park’s pavilion and feature beers from Third Space Brewing along with rotating selections from West Allis breweries.

The venue will also offer nonalcoholic drinks, canned cocktails and pre-packaged snacks, with food trucks and live music scheduled throughout the summer.

The pavilion includes a covered patio and seating near the park’s playground, which features additional amenities such as a splash pad, volleyball and tennis courts.

The new beer garden will give back to the community

Third Space Brewing will contribute a portion of sales to the city for park improvements and programming.

The brewery also plans to host “Community Spotlight” nights to support local nonprofits.

“Bringing a beer garden to Liberty Heights Park will bring energy to this neighborhood and create a welcoming gathering spot for residents and visitors alike,” West Allis Mayor Dan Devine said in the news release. “It will draw people to our community who may not have ventured here recently.”

Third Space Brewing’s brick-and-mortar location is in Milwaukee at 1505 W. St. Paul Ave. For more information on the brewery, visit thirdspacebrewing.com.
