3 weekend events you don’t want to miss April 30-May 3 in Stevens Point

Portage County Cultural Festival

The 2026 Portage County Cultural Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 2 at Stevens Point Area Senior High, 1201 N. Point Drive in Stevens Point. The free event will feature music on multiple stages, ethnic art demonstrations, hands-on activities for children, crafts and food from around the world. A shuttle service will take guests to the event from the Pfiffner Riverfront Parking Lot. AIRO Powwow

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Native American Center will host its 51st annual AIRO Powwow from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. May 2 at the Skyward Fieldhouse at UW-Stevens Point, 2050 Fourth Ave. in Stevens Point. Doors open at 11 a.m., Grand Entries will be at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., and a feast will start at 3 p.m. The event will feature a potato dance, feather dance for ages 12 years and younger, a two-step and a veteran honor song, as well as a variety of other dances, drums and more. Admission is $10 for general tickets and $8 for students and staff. Children 5 years and younger and seniors 65 years and older can attend for free. ‘Sounds of Spring’

The Friends of Schmeeckle Reserve will host its Spring Celebration: “Sounds of Spring” from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. May 3 at 2419 N. Point Drive in Stevens Point. Family-friendly programs will be set up along the Trail of Reflections as promenade theater. Guests will meet different characters along the trail, and performances will take place every 15 minutes starting at 1 p.m. Guests can also get their faces painted, meet live raptors, explore discovery stations, make crafts, complete the scavenger hunt and enjoy snacks for purchase. Pre-registration for the hike is required at grasshoppersignup.com/s/vsejt2. Event organizers suggest a donation of $4 per person or $10 per family to help fund future programs and events.
