Freshman stymies Morgan in Tri-Valley win, April 27 top performers

DRESDEN — Tanner Henry struck out 10 in a one-hitter as Tri-Valley rolled to a 10-0 win against Morgan in a five-inning mercy on April 28 at Kenny Wolford Park.

The only hit Henry yielded was a third-inning single to Casen Foley as Morgan fell to 5-11.

Oliver Baker doubled and singled with two RBIs and Isaiah Cullins, Carter Williams and Jaxson Better also had two RBIs for Tri-Valley (7-7).

Philo 16, John Glenn 8: The Electrics (8-8) trailed 8-0 after two innings, but they roared back behind 16 hits — four were singles from Cooper Roush — nine walks and five Muskie errors in an MVL-Big School win on the road.

Jack Lincicome fired four one-hit innings of relief with seven strikeouts to get the win. He also had two singles and two RBIs; Garrett Tom and Kayden McElfresh had RBI doubles in a five-run fifth inning.

Carter Merry drove in four runs on a double and single for John Glenn, which had seven hits. Owen Edwards and Zane Townsend had two singles.

Rosecrans 10, Wellington 5 (5 inn.): Nick Bernath drove in three runs with a double and two singles for the Bishops in a rain-shortened win the Mid-State League-Cardinal Division.

Carter Fitz cracked a double and Haiden Omen had two singles for Rosecrans, which led 8-2 in the third. Thad Mumford and Jacobie Balo each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

Licking Heights 11, Zanesville 2: The Blue Devils committed 10 errors and managed only four hits in a Licking County League-Buckeye Division loss to the host Hornets.

Noah Darnes had a double and single for ZHS.

Meadowbrook 7, Crooksville 5: The Ceramics had four errors to the Colts’ none in an MVL-Small School loss in McLuney.

Kyson Riggs had a double and two singles and Brody Cottrell two doubles with an RBI for Crooksville (3-8), which trailed 7-1 in the seventh. Cottrell, who struck out seven with no walks, allowed one earned run in 6 2/3 innings.

Ridgewood 6, Zoarville Tuscarawas Valley 0: Connor Croy struck out six and scattered five hits as the Generals (10-7) won an Inter-Valley Conference game in West Lafayette.

Logan Ridenbaugh singled and walked with two RBIs and Wyatt Marlatt reached three times in a single and two walks for Ridgewood.

Sheridan 6, River View 4: Connor Roshon struck out 14 and yielded two hits in 6 1/3 innings for the Generals (12-5) in an MVL-Big School win in Warsaw.

Roshon drove in two runs, Noah Wamer had two singles and Cole Cashdollar and Donnie Helber doubled for Sheridan, which scored six times in the first two innings. It overcame three errors.

Maquire Werntz struck out six and walked one in six innings for River View (2-6). He also drove in two runs.

Maysville 5, Coshocton 3: The Panthers (4-10) scored two runs on an error and another on a wild pitch in an MVL-Small School win at home.

Tre Butcher had two RBIs on a single and Bryce Fisher doubled for Maysville; Jake Deal pitched six three-hit innings to get the win.

Calan Shaw pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts for Coshocton (7-11), which trailed 2-0 after five innings. Koltin Tidwell and J.J. Herman had RBI singles.

West M 9, New Lexington 4: Ashton Ansel had two RBIs on a double and two singles and pitched three innings of scoreless relief to fuel the Tornadoes (9-9), who built an 8-0 lead in an MVL-Small School road win.

Gus Pearson had two RBIs on a double and single for the Panthers (6-7), who had four errors and struck out 11 times. Wyatt Barnette allowed no earned runs in 5 2/3 innings of relief.

Softball

John Glenn 4, Philo 0: Kendall Snider’s brilliant season in the circle continued with 19 istrikeouts in a one-hitter, as the Muskies (17-2) remain tied atop the MVL-Big School Division with a convincing home win.

Addison Babcock had a triple and Ava Miller and Josilyn Stashonky doubled and singled for John Glenn’s offense; Lexi Charles allowed two earned runs in a complete game with seven strikeouts for Philo (6-13).

West M 5, New Lex 2: Peyton Brown tripled twice and drew a walk and Katelyne Stewart didn’t allow an earned run for the Tornadoes in an MVL-Small School win on the road.

Stewart struck out seven in 5 1/3 innings to get the win; Jorja Burkhart, Mia Metzger and Corrine Thompson had two singles for New Lex, which trailed 3-1 after six innings.

Sheridan 6, River View 1: Megan Ranck drove in two runs with two doubles and struck out eight in a complete game as the Generals stayed tied atop the MVL-Big School Division.

Brooke Cadigan and Avery Hall had two singles for Sheridan; Kelsie McClellan hit a solo homer for River View, which trailed 4-0 in the fourth.

Tri-Valley 14, Morgan 7: Allia Rush’s two homers, double and five RBIs weren’t enough for the Raiders, as the Scotties’ Ally Peterson and Alivia Reffitt combined for two homers and six RBIs in an MVL-Big School win at Kenny Wolford Park.

Ava Neal added a double and single with two RBIs as Tri-Valley had eight hits and took advantage of three Morgan errors. Megan Kozusko pitched six innings to get the win.

Myka Augenstein and Laney Kangas doubled and singled for Morgan.

Meadowbrook 12, Crooksville 1: The Colts piled up 15 hits — five for extra bases — and took advantage of five errors in an MVL-Small School win in McLuney. They scored eight times in the final two innings.

Addy Sichina struck out eight in a complete game to get the win.

Dalena Rollison and Mylin Driggs had doubles for Crooksville.

Coshocton 11, Maysville 10: Seven of Coshocton’s hits went for extra bases as Saige Taylor drove in two runs with a triple and two doubles, and Mallorie Stamper clubbed a home run in an MVL-Small School road win.

Savannah Gambill pitched two scoreless innings to secure a one-run lead after Maysville got gnawed into a four-run deficit with a three-run fith.

Sophie Dennis had three singles and Lilah Jones tripled and singled for Maysville, which had 13 hits. Evee Matthews had a double and single and Megan Cummings a two-run triple for Maysville.

Zoarville Tuscarawas Valley 8, Ridgewood 0: Ohio State recruit Brennen Reichman piled up 18 strikeouts to snap the Generals’ seven-game winning streak in an IVC game in West Lafayette.

Jayden Jaras’ single was the Generals’ lone hit. Addison Lahmers struck out seven in five innings.
