Tommy Castellanos’ path to the NFL won’t be under center, but it isn’t closed.
After going unselected in the 2026 NFL Draft, the former Florida State and Boston College quarterback has accepted rookie minicamp invitations with the Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins, where he will try to earn a spot at wide receiver as an undrafted free agent.
Castellanos spent his entire college career at quarterback for three programs, most recently FSU after transferring from Boston College. He begin his college career at UCF. The 5-foot-11 dual-threat signal-caller played one season with the Seminoles, finishing 2025 by completing 180 of 309 passes for 2,760 yards, 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also rushed for 557 yards and nine touchdowns as FSU finished 5-7.
Across his college career, Castellanos threw for 6,449 yards with 59 touchdowns and 24 interceptions while adding 1,984 rushing yards and 24 scores on the ground. Known for his quickness and elusiveness, he built a reputation as a dynamic runner capable of creating plays outside the pocket.
That athleticism will now be tested in a new role. Castellanos has limited experience at wide receiver, recording two career targets for minus-11 yards while lining up outside at Boston College in 2023. Still, teams appear willing to see whether his speed and open-field ability can translate at the professional level after taking on some snaps at WR during FSU’s pro Day.
Florida State had just one player selected in this year’s draft, with defensive tackle Darrell Jackson Jr. taken by the New York Jets in the fourth round.
For Castellanos, making the jump from college quarterback to NFL wide receiver represents a long shot — but rookie minicamps offer opportunity, and the former dual-threat hopes his versatility gives him a chance to keep his football career alive.
