Dolphins draft picks 2026 live updates, Day 3 grades, picks so far

The 2026 NFL draft comes to a close today, and Day 3 shapes up to be another action-packed one for the Miami Dolphins. After a Day 1 trade netted two extra picks, general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan has seven more picks out of 13 total for the draft.

Miami took tackle Kadyn Proctor and cornerback Chris Johnson in the first round, then added a pair of Texas Tech alums with its first two picks on Day 2, grabbing star linebacker David Rodriguez and wide receiver Caleb Douglas. After rounding out Round 3 with tight end Will Kacmarek and receiver Chris Bell, the Dolphins could still use help in the secondary, the interior offensive line and defensive end. Some more weapons for new quarterback Malik Willis wouldn’t hurt, either.

Soon after taking edge rusher Trey Moore, Miami grabbed PItt linebacker Kyle Louis with the 138th overall pick in the fourth round. He can play linebacker or safety.

Miami Dolphins remaining draft picks

The Dolphins have six picks remaining in the 2026 NFL draft. Here’s the list of their picks in rounds 4-7:

Dolphins draft Trey Moore

Miami’s first pick of Day 3 came at No. 130 overall in the fourth round, with the Dolphins taking Texas edge rusher Trey Moore. He was the American Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2023 when he racked up 14 sacks and 17.5 tackles for loss at UTSA. Last year was his second with the Longhorns, and Moore put up three sacks and five TFLs.

“Alignment-versatile edge with lots of experience and production but lacks length and size to stick at edge only in the NFL. May be a candidate for a move off-ball but unproven there.” – Ayrton Ostly, USA TODAY

Dolphins draft needs

Miami’s biggest needs entering the NFL draft were wide receiver, tight end, guard, defensive end, cornerback and safety. One of the best cornerbacks in the field fell to Day 3, but the Raiders opened Round 4 by taking Tennessee’s Jermod McCoy despite missing all of the 2025 season with a torn ACL. Another top defensive back, Miami’s Keionte Scott, joined Hurricanes teammate Rueben Bain Jr. with the Bucs. Here are some others the Dolphins could target today, pulled from USA TODAY reporter Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz’s list of the best remaining players:

NFL draft order

Here’s the complete draft order for the fifth round of the 2026 NFL draft:

When do Dolphins pick next?

Miami has seven picks today, two in the fourth round, three in the fifth and two in the seventh. Teams have 5 minutes to make their picks in Rounds 4-6 and 4 minutes in Round 7. The Dolphins’ first pick is the 30th of the day, so they will be on the clock likely about 1:30-2 p.m. ET.

Pittsburgh weather at NFL draft

Commissioner Roger Goodell started Day 3 by inquiring Pittsburghers to come out and break the attendance record, but that’s a big ask considering the weather forecast today. The action started with showers around the stage at the Steelers’ stadium, and AccuWeather predicts thunderstorms are possible throughout the afternoon.

Is Jacob Rodriguez the next Zach Thomas?

New Miami linebacker Jacob Rodriguez said one of his mentors throughout his time at Texas Tech was another legendary Dolphins and Red Raiders linebacker, Zach Thomas. The Pro Football Hall of Famer had high praise for his protégé, telling the Palm Beach Post’s Hal Habib “it’s not even close” that Rodriguez, who won every major defensive award in college football this past season, is the best defensive player in the school’s history. (We can’t call him the best overall player as long as Patrick Mahomes is still out here winning MVPs and Super Bowls.)
