The No. 12 Florida State Seminoles softball team beat the North Carolina Tar Heels 6-1 on Saturday at JoAnne Graf Field, securing the series win. They are now 38-7 overall and 14-3 in ACC play, winning all but one of their series this season.
It was the Ashtyn Danley show for FSU. Thier two-way star pitched the final 3.0 innings and did not allow a run. With the Seminoles clinging to a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning, she lined a three-run homer to center, giving them a 5-1 lead and giving herself some breathing room.

FSU never trailed as Isa Torres led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run, her third homer in the past four games. They proceeded to load the bases with no outs and Bella Ruggiero gave them a 2-0 lead with a sacrifice fly. That was all they managed as they failed to get some more breathing room.
North Carolina got on the board in the third inning with a two-out home run off Bella Dimitrijevic. The freshman got the start for FSU, giving up one run over 4.0 innings on two hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
FSU got another run in the sixth inning when Marin Heller hit a leadoff triple and scored on a sacrifice fly from Hayley Griggs, putting them up 6-1.
The Seminoles finished the game with 10 hits, with Torres and Danley both having multiple. They hit .357 (5-14) with runners on and .250 (2-8) with runners in scoring position.
FSU will go for the sweep of North Carolina on Sunday. The game is set to start at noon and will be streamed on ESPN+. The Seminoles will honor seniors Madi Frey and Makenna Reid before the game.
