'I'm truly honored.' Perry police detective grateful for community award

PERRY TWP. – Police Detective Danielle Paciorek wore a big smile in front of a contingent of township residents, fellow officers and trustees gathered on April 14.

Paciorek’s daughter, Madison, joined her for a special moment, as she accepted the township’s recognition for her recent Community Police Officer of the Year award.

“This (honor) means more than I can put into words — for your belief in what we (officers) do every day,” said Paciorek. … “I’m truly honored for this recognition.”

The 10-year veteran of the Perry police force was lauded for her outstanding service to the community by Trustees Lisa Nelligan, Matt Miller and Ralph DeChiara Jr. prior to the township’s April 14 regular meeting.

“We’re so proud to have you part of our team,” said Nelligan, who presented Paciorek with a framed certificate noting her achievement. “We’re so blessed to have you.”

In late March, Paciorek was named Community Police Officer of the Year for 2025 in Stark County during the annual Stark County Crime Prevention Breakfast.

Police Chief Bryan D. Taylor’s nomination of Paciorek mentioned that she “exemplifies the highest standards of professionalism, compassion, and innovation in law enforcement, and she has become the cornerstone of community engagement within Perry Township.”

Paciorek’s husband, Shaun Paciorek, is a sergeant with the North Canton Police Department.

In addition to her role as a police detective, Paciorek often speaks at regional school career days, started and operates Perry’s “Chief for a Day” program for children, serves as public information officer, interacts with seniors and U.S military veterans, works as a field training officer and stun-gun instructor, as well as supporting other community events involving officers.

Paciorek also manages the police agency’s social media accounts and platforms.
