The All-Greater Rochester Girls Wrestling Team was selected by a Democrat and Chronicle reporter, based largely – but not solely – on results at the high school state championships.
Jasmine Brucato
School: Honeoye Falls-Lima
Year: Junior
Parents: Pamela and Nick Brucato
Key accomplishments: 43-3 season record, only Section V girl to become a state champion this season.
Why Brucato is the AGR Girls Wrestler of the Year: Brucato, a member of the Alexander merged team, is the only girl among wrestlers in Section V who won a state title. She is the 100-pound state champion.
Future plans: Heading to World Team Trials this month in Spokane, Washington. I want to wrestle in college but still looking at schools.
Amelia Armstrong
School: Wayne
Year: Senior
Parents: Jessica and Wendel Armstrong
Key accomplishments: Being a sectional champion, along with being the most outstanding wrestler at the State Farm Classic tournament.
Future plans: I plan on attending Buffalo State, study in the early childhood education program and continue my wrestling career there.
Lorilye Beardsley
School: Avon
Year: Eighth grade
Parents: Carolyn Morsch and Cory Beardsley
Key accomplishment: Placing third at states.
Future plans: University of Iowa.
Alivia Cartwright
School: Keshequa
Year: Senior
Parents: Barbara and Ronald Cartwright
Key accomplishments: 137 career wins and finishing third at states.
Future plans: I am going to Felician University, and continuing my wrestling career.
Brooklynn Fitzgerald
School: Hilton
Year: Freshman
Parents: Tracy and Griffin Fitzgerald
Key accomplishment: Section V champion.
Future plans: To be a state champ and continue wrestling in college.
Emma Gallaway
School: Alexander
Year: Junior
Parents: Mallory Michalak and Adam Gallaway
Key accomplishment: Winning sectionals.
Future plans: I want to go to college to study business management and start my own salon.
Luci Hawn
School: West Irondequoit
Year: Sophomore
Parent: Marisa Perez
Key accomplishments: Having the same coach from modified coach me to my first sectional title. Winning is the one thing I am most proud of and will cherish forever, along with winning some matches at the state level and going to states this year with my teammate.
Future plans: After graduating high school, I would like to continue my education at a school in Pennsylvania, where I can continue to wrestle and receive a degree in physical therapy. Hopefully at East Stroudsburg University, Lock Haven, Misericordia or even McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois. After graduating from college, I would love to come back to West Irondequoit and coach our girls wrestling team, while continuing to grow this life-changing sport.
Josie Lamb
School: Canandaigua
Year: Junior
Parents: Casey and Lauren Lamb
Key accomplishment: Fifth at state championships.
Future plans: Undecided.
Bailey Morrison
School: East Rochester
Year: Senior
Parents: Allison and Brian Morrison
Key accomplishments: Section V champion and the section’s state representative for the 185-pound weight class.
Future plans: Attending D’Youville University to study pre-med psychology and I’m committed to the school’s women’s wrestling team. Go Saints!
Peyton Mullin
School: Dundee
Year: Junior
Parents: Leslie and Donald Mullin
Key accomplishments: Three-time state finalist.
Future plans: Undecided on college. I want to continue wrestling at a Division I college and get a degree in sports medicine.
Ja’Niyah Simmons
School: Canandaigua
Year: Senior
Parents: Danielle Singleton and Jimmy Simmons
Key accomplishments: State finalist, two-time Section V champion and two-time Section V state representative.
Future plans: Attend college and wrestle.
Rose Southwick
School: Red Creek
Year: Senior
Parents: Angel and Mark Southwick
Key accomplishment: I’m most proud of my ability to stay composed and focused, even when calls aren’t going my way.
Future plans: Attend Alfred State for nursing.
Talulah Williams-Johnson
School: East Rochester
Year: Sophomore
Parents: Mirya Williams and Gary Johnson
Key accomplishment: I am most proud of making it to the NYSPHSAA Championships and representing my school at the state level.
Future plans: Attend college and earn a degree in mechanical engineering.

Profession: Web developer at SUNY Genesee Community College.
Varsity coaching experience: Alexander varsity boys and/or girls wrestling teams (2020-present).
