A Shelby Township man accused of possessing and distributing child pornography has been charged, officials said.
Nathen Dimitruck was arraigned Monday in 41A District Court in Shelby Township, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office said.
The 34-year-old is charged with a count of aggravated distributing or promoting child sexual abuse activity, five counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, and six counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
A judge set Dimitruck’s bond at $100,000 and scheduled his next court hearing for April 14, according to court records.
The judge also ordered him to wear a GPS tether if released on bond. He also forbade Dimitruck from having any contact with anyone under the age of 17 and banned him from using any electronic devices as conditions of bond.
If convicted, Dimitruck faces up to 15 years in prison for aggravated distributing or promoting child sexual abuse activity. Each count of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material is punishable by 10 years, and each count of using a computer to commit a crime carries a 10-year penalty.
Court records on Tuesday did not list an attorney for Dimitruck.
Authorities said detectives with the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office and Warren Police Department executed a search warrant on Thursday at a home on the 48600 block of Rex Street in Shelby Township.
Officers arrested Dimitruck at the home without incident. Investigators also seized evidence that he possessed and distributed child sexually abusive material, deputies said. Detectives also said the evidence is under forensic analysis.
Dimitruck is the latest Michigan resident to be accused of possessing child sexually abusive material.
A South Lyon man was charged with six felony counts after authorities allegedly found tens of thousands of child porn images on his devices, officials said Monday.
Last month, a former St. Clair County doctor convicted of child porn possession and distribution was sentenced in federal court to 15 years in prison.
Also in March, a Warren man charged with distributing child pornography pleaded guilty in Macomb County Circuit Court.
