Abilene Municipal Cemetery Cleanup Days return

Cemetery Cleanup Days return this month to the Abilene Municipal Cemetery.

The city’s Parks and Recreation Department is calling for family members to remove all items from graves that do not comply with cemetery policies, a media release said.

The cleanup, which happens each quarter, is scheduled April 13-17 at 1133 Cottonwood Street. After April 17, city staff will remove and dispose of anything left on plots that are not compliant with safety, and no items will be kept at the cemetery shop.

As a reminder, glass bottles and vases are not permitted on any cemetery lot. Decorations like flowers or flower receptacles will be permitted so long as they don’t hinder cemetery maintenance.

All wreaths, flowers or ornaments must be placed on the grave marker itself and not the ground.

Call 325-437-4625 for more information. You can also visit the city’s website for a complete list of cemetery policies.
