Chargers 2026 salary cap update: Where things currently stand

The Chargers currently have $49.9 million in effective cap space, according to Spotrac. This puts them at third-most in the NFL.

Los Angeles entered the offseason in a premier financial position, having $99.06 million in cap space, which also ranked near the top of the league.

The Bolts have addressed both sides of the ball, with their biggest acquisitions being the signings of center Tyler Biadasz (3 years, $30 million, $15 million guaranteed) and tight end Charlie Kolar (3 years, $24.3 million, $17 million guaranteed), and the retentions of defensive tackle Teair Tart (3 years, $30 million, $20 million guaranteed) and edge rusher Khalil Mack (1 year, $18 million).

The Chargers are projected to have approximately $3.6 million in cap space required for their 2026 draft class, specifically for their No. 22 overall selection, as part of their initial five-pick draft pool.

Los Angeles can clear additional cap space, beyond their high 2026 starting point, by restructuring quarterback Justin Herbert’s contract, releasing another veteran player like edge rusher Bud Dupree, or extending safety Derwin James to lower his cap hit.
