In her homecoming to face her alma mater, Brittany Beall’s Florida A&M softball team couldn’t get the win over the Auburn Tigers.
Auburn hosted the Rattlers on Jane B. Moore Field and won 8-3 on Monday, March 23.
It was FAMU’s second-year head coach’s first time facing the Tigers, whom she lettered with four times as an outfielder from 2005 to 2008.
The Tigers outhit the Rattlers 10-5. Jamison Townsend led FAMU with two hits.
Zoryana Hughes pitched five innings and allowed four earned runs against 25 batters faced. Samantha Smith pitched an inning and also gave up four runs against nine batters faced, which credited her with Monday’s loss to Auburn.
Auburn raised to 22-10 and is 2-4 in the Southeastern Conference.
Meanwhile, the Rattlers are 16-14 and 7-2 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They will next travel to Daytona Beach to face Bethune-Cookman (10-21, 6-3 in SWAC) for a two-day, three-game SWAC series from Friday, March 28, through Saturday, March 29.
