See who won, who faces a runoff in the Texas Democratic primary races

All ballots have been counted, and the official Election Day results are in for the statewide Texas Democratic Primary races.

On Friday, the Texas Secretary of State released the official election results after local and state officials canvased and certified the results.

This means it’s official who has secured enough votes to become the Democratic nominee in their race to advance to the November 2026 General Election and who is headed to a runoff.

Here’s a look at the results.

Talarico secures Democratic nomination in Texas U.S. Senate race

Texas State Rep. James Talarico was able to secure enough votes — 52.45% —to become the Democratic nominee, avoiding a runoff.

He defeated U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett and Ahmad Hassan.

Hinojosa secures Democratic nomination in Texas governor race

Texas State Rep. Gina Hinojosa was able to secure enough votes — 58.53% —to become the Democratic nominee, avoiding a runoff.

Hinojosa defeated eight other candidates in the primary race. Chris Bell was in second place but only securred 9.8% of the vote.

Goodwin, Velez to face off in Lt. Governor Democratic primary runoff race

No candidate was able to secure the coveted 50% of the vote plus one to avoid a runoff in the Democratic primary for lieutenant governor.

That means Vikki Goodwin — with 48.01% of the vote — and Marcos Velez — with 31.49% — will vie for the Democratic nomination in May.

The third candidate — Courtney Head — was defeated in the primary.

Johnson, Jaworski to face off in Texas AG Democratic primary runoff race

No candidate was able to secure the coveted 50% of the vote plus one to avoid a runoff in the Texas attorney general election.

That means Nathan Johnson — with 48.1% of the vote — and Joe Jaworski — with 26.4% — will vie for the Democratic nomination in May.

The third candidate — Anthony “Tony” Box — was defeated in the primary.

Eckhardt secures Democratic nomination in Texas comptroller race

Texas State Sen. Sarah Eckhardt was able to secure enough votes — 64.08% —to become the Democratic nominee, avoiding a runoff.

Eckhardt defeated Savant Moore and Michael Lange.

Flores secures Democratic nomination in Texas land commissioner race

Bay City Councilman Benjamin Flores was able to secure enough votes — 55.56% —to become the Democratic nominee, avoiding a runoff.

He defeated Jose Loya.

Democratic nominees for agriculture, railroad commissioner races

In the Texas commissioner of agriculture and the railroad commissioner races, the Democratic candidates ran opposed, meaning that they are the Democratic nominees in the 2026 November General Election.

Jon Rosenthal is the Democratic nominee for railroad commissioner.

Clayton Tucker is the Democratic nominee for agriculture commissioner.
