Greek Peak plans $3 million upgrade of snowmaking systems. See timeline

Greek Peak Mountain Resort is set to begin a $3 million project to upgrade its snowmaking infrastructure.

In a March 20 press release, Greek Peak announced that the project will begin at the conclusion of the 2026 ski season, with an accelerated rollout targeted at the start of the 2026-27 ski season.

The project was initially supposed to span over the course of four years, according to President of Greek Peak Mountain Resort Wes Kryger. However, the resort has since made the decision to accelerate it into a one-year implementation.

Kryger said the project represents “one of the most aggressive infrastructure upgrades” in Greek Peak history, one that will increase efficiency and sustainability “season after season.”

Here’s what the project will entail and what upgrades will be made to Greek Peak Mountain Resort by the start of the next ski season, according to the release.

Greek Peak will install 250 “new HKD semi-automated snow guns,” increasing the ability to produce snow efficiently, along with a “new 450 horsepower water pump,” which will boost water capacity by around 20%.

Crews will also install 33,000 feet of new snowmaking pipeline, expanding snowmaking coverage to the following trails on the east side of the mountain:

“Our goal is simple — deliver the best skiing and riding experience possible,” Kryger said. “This investment reinforces our mission to be the top regional ski destination that is expected of Central New York’s Home Mountain.”
