The average cost in Illinois for a regular gallon of gas is $4.12 on the morning of March 20, according to AAA. That’s about 44 cents higher than the week prior, $1.15 higher than the month before and 21 cents higher than the national average.

Data published by Gas Buddy shows the national average reached the highest point in three years Friday, at $3.92 for a regular gallon of gas.
The last time national prices passed $3.80 was in late 2023, according to the site.
