For the fourth year in a row, HCA Florida North Florida Hospital announced it has been named one of America’s 250 Best Hospitals in 2026.
In a March 19 press release, Healthgrades, a highly regarded website patients use when searching for a doctor or hospital, has awarded the hospital the accolade since 2023.
Healthgrades evaluated around 4,500 hospitals nationwide for “risk-adjusted morality and complication rates for more than 30 most common conditions and procedures.”
Some of the Healthgrades 2026 Clinical Achievements HCA was awarded included first in the state for Gastrointestinal Surgery, placed second for Surgical Care, 2026 Five-Star Recipient for Outpatient Total Hip Replacement.
“This year’s America’s Best Hospitals list gives patients a clearer picture of where high-quality care is delivered most consistently,” Alana Biggers, MD, MPH, medical advisor at Healthgrades said in the press release. “Patients can feel confident in their decision to seek care at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital, a hospital that is setting the standard for clinical excellence nationwide.”
With the gap getting bigger, the press release continued that Healthgrades found outcomes vary widely between the nation’s highest- and lowest-performing facilities.
“In fact, if all hospitals, as a group, performed similarly to America’s 250 Best, on average, 211,370 lives could have been saved during the 2022-2024 study period,” the press release said.
Serving North Central Florida for more than 50 years, the hospital stands as a 523-bed, full-service medical and surgical acute care center. The hospital offers cardiovascular care, oncology, orthopedics, neurosciences, transplant and cellular therapy, minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery, weight loss surgery and treatment, women’s health, comprehensive Level III NICU services and wound therapy, etc.
“HCA Florida North Florida Hospital is honored by Healthgrades’ recognition of our exceptional team’s dedication to providing the highest quality of patient care,” HCA Florida North Florida Hospital CEO Gabe Bullaro said in the press release. “As a top-performing hospital, our focus is always on saving and improving lives, and this recognition underscores our hospital’s longstanding commitment to our community.”
In May, Gainesville will see the city’s first new standalone hospital in 50 years named “HCA Florida Gainesville Hospital” at 4094 SW 41st Blvd. It will feature 90 beds while focusing on spinal and orthopedic patients and incorporating advanced technology, including robotic systems for soft tissue surgeries and AI-powered, augmented reality tools for spine operations, HCA Florida North Florida Hospital COO Mark Amox told The Sun in November of 2025.
