LITCHFIELD — A bowling alley in Litchfield has burned and is considered “a total loss,” according to the Litchfield Fire Department.
Someone initially saw smoke coming from the Litchfield Bowling Alley, located at 3320 Illinois 16, around 2:15 p.m. on March 15.

The roof collapsed at one point, and fires continued to burn beneath the metal roof structure throughout the night, according to a news release from the Litchfield Fire Department.
No injuries were reported.
The building is considered a total loss. The Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal has been requested to investigate the cause and origin of the fire.
The business declined to comment.
Challenging conditions for firefighting
Fireground conditions were “extremely challenging” throughout battling the fire, the fire department stated.
Gusting winds and a line of storms that moved through the area made suppression efforts difficult. Despite these conditions, firefighters prevented the fire from extending beyond the original structure.
Many fire departments came to help.
