As it turns out, the wagering public has access to the stat books.
They seem to know how good Kyle Larson is at Las Vegas. Christopher Bell, too.
And that explains their 1-2 positions on the odds board for this week’s Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, which is located about 15 miles from where the really fast company hangs out on the Strip.
Our new Dale Earnhardt book comes out soon
It appears Tyler Reddick also has their attention. No one expected him to extend his three-race win streak last week at Phoenix, and he didn’t. But he finished a respectable eighth, which might mean he’s not ready to bankroll those early wins and just blend into the crowd until the postseason begins in September.
Let’s get a gander at the odds pylon and see if we can find a sleeper.
NASCAR betting favorites at Las Vegas: Familiar names
+475: Kyle Larson
+575: Christopher Bell
+650: Denny Hamlin
+800: Ryan Blaney
+850: Tyler Reddick, William Byron
In the past six races at Vegas, Larson has two wins and two runners-up. No wins in that time frame for Bell, but he does have four top-5s in his last six Vegas starts.
Chase X 2, a Bubba and a Joey
+1100: Chase Briscoe
+1200: Joey Logano
+1400: Chase Elliott
+1600: Ross Chastain
+2250: Bubba Wallace
+3000: Carson Hocevar, Ty Gibbs, Chris Buescher
Forget winning, Buescher rarely even leads laps anymore. As for Elliott, it’s hard to fathom his Vegas struggles. Remember those last six Vegas races we were just talking about? Chase has had one top-10 in that time frame, and that was a 10th!
Justin Allgaier inherits Alex Bowman’s car and Alex Bowman’s odds
+4000: Josh Berry, Ryan Preece
+5000: Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch, Justin Allgaier
+6000: Connor Zilisch, Daniel Suarez, Austin Cindric
+10000: Erik Jones
+15000: AJ Allmendinger
+20000: Michael McDowell, Shane van Gisbergen
Hate to say it, but it’s no longer a surprise to see Busch and Kez down this far.
Austin Dillon, Ricky Stenhouse have won races before!
+25000: Zane Smith, Austin Dillon, Ricky Stenhouse, John Hunter Nemechek, Noah Gragson, Todd Gilliland
+50000: Ty Dillon
+100000: Cole Custer, Cody Ware, Riley Herbst
Not exactly a boatload of respect shown to Dillon and Ricky, a pair of former Daytona 500 champs.
