Report: CB Roger McCreary leaves Rams for Lions

Another one of the Los Angeles Rams’ free agents decided to sign elsewhere this offseason.

Roger McCreary, whom the Rams traded for at the 2025 deadline, reportedly inked a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.

He was the second former Rams cornerback to leave in free agency after Cobie Durant joined the Dallas Cowboys. McCreary played in just six games for L.A. after joining the team and missed four due to injury. He finished with four tackles in 38 defensive snaps.

This departure isn’t surprising given what the Rams did to open free agency. L.A. traded for Trent McDuffie and signed Jaylen Watson to give them two clear-cut starting cornerbacks alongside Emmanuel Forbes Jr. The Rams also re-signed safety Kam Curl.

Given that McCreary was a bit of a bust of a trade, it didn’t make sense for the Rams to bring him back unless they really liked what they saw from him in his limited time on the field.
