What the Bears are getting in new defensive tackle Neville Gallimore

The Chicago Bears kicked off free agency with the expected signing of defensive tackle Neville Gallimore to a two-year, $12 million contract, adding a key rotational piece along the interior defensive line.

Gallimore, a former third-round pick in 2020, spent his first four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys before spending time with the Los Angeles Rams (2024) and Indianapolis Colts (2025). Last season with the Colts, Gallimore had a career year here he totaled 38 tackles, including four tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, six QB hits and three pass breakups in 17 games, including eight starts.

We spoke to Paul Bretl of Colts Wire, who gave us the rundown on what we can expect from the Bears’ new defensive tackle and why he could be a good fit for Chicago.

What kind of player are the Bears getting in Neville Gallimore?

Paul Bretl: The 2025 season was Gallimore’s only with the Colts, but he provided a steady presence as a rotational defensive tackle behind DeForest Buckner and Grover Stewart. Adding Gallimore to the mix helped elevate the play behind Buckner and Stewart, something that was needed after the 2024 season.

What’s Gallimore’s biggest strength?

PB: Gallimore had a career year in terms of getting after the quarterback. His numbers aren’t flashy, but Gallimore’s 17 pressures and four sacks, according to PFF, were both career highs. He had more snaps last season as a pass rusher than a run defender.

What’s Gallimore’s biggest weakness?

PB: By PFF’s metrics, Gallimore did not grade out well as a run defender — he was below-average by their grading system. Contributing to that was the fact that his missed tackle rate was relatively high as well.

Why do you think Gallimore could be a good fit for the Bears?

PB: Defensive tackle is a heavily rotated position, regardless of the NFL team, which makes having quality depth a must. Gallimore showcased last season with the Colts that he can provide that for a defensive front. His production may not leap off the stat sheet, but a strong presence inside helps open up opportunities for others.
