The stage is set for the Big 12 men’s basketball tournament at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City.
This year’s Big 12 Tournament will take place from March 10-14. The championship game is scheduled for Saturday, March 14 at 5 p.m. CT and will be televised on ESPN.
All Big 12 Tournament games will be on various ESPN networks.
Iowa State finished the regular season with a 25-6 overall record and a 12-6 showing in conference play. Here is a look at the final Big 12 standings, Iowa State’s first opponent, potential path and tournament schedule.
Iowa State men’s basketball Big 12 Tournament seed, opponent
The Cyclones clinched the No. 5 seed.
Although ISU was tied with Kansas and Texas Tech in the Big 12 standings, the Jayhawks got the edge in tiebreaker and took the No. 3 seed as a result of regular-season wins over both the Cyclones and Red Raiders. Kansas went 2-1 in games against both teams, splitting two games with Iowa State and winning its lone matchup with Texas Tech.
Texas Tech got the No. 4 seed. Although it played Iowa State and Kansas only once each, it defeated the Cyclones and lost to the Jayhawks. Its 1-1 record and .500 winning percentage still trumps the Cyclones’ 1-2 (.333) showing against Texas Tech and Kansas.
The Cyclones will play the winner of the matchup between No. 12 Arizona State and No. 13 Baylor in the Big 12 Tournament’s second round on Wednesday, March 11 at 11:30 a.m. CT.
The winner of that game will advance to play No. 4 Texas Tech on Thursday, March 12 in the Big 12 quarterfinals at 11:30 a.m. CT.
