Corning-Painted Post High School has led the way in state championships among schools in the Elmira-Corning region.
The majority of titles for the school district have come from its cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field teams.
Corning now has a combined 36 state-championship performances in those sports, with several winning both New York Federation and public schools titles at the same state meet.

2016: NYSPHSAA Class A team champion.
2017: NYSPHSAA Class A team champion.
2021: NYSPHSAA Class A team champion.

2003: 3,200-meter relay (Matt Deregon, Dane Schneider, Phil Marchese, Travis Preston).
2006: Kenyan Hicks, 400-meter hurdles.
2008: AJ Johnson, long jump.
2008: AJ Johnson, triple jump.
2017: Kevin Moshier, 3200 meters.
2017: Kevin Moshier, 1600 meters.
2022: Jack Gregorski, 3200 meters.
2022: 3,200 relay (Jack Gregorski, Ashton Bange, Gabe Cornfield, Tevin McLaren).
