Town spokesperson Shawn Reed said emergency dispatchers received calls at about 2:30 p.m. regarding an aircraft incident outside the Home Depot store near Maplewood Drive. Reed said the pilot landed the plane safely and there were no reported injuries.

The nature of the emergency was not immediately known. The aircraft was removed from the roadway and into a nearby parking lot. Reed said the National Transportation Safety Board will take over the investigation.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue reported that a small, single-engine plane was involved. The aircraft did not strike any cars as it landed in the westbound lanes of Indiantown between Maplewood and Pennock Lane, fire rescue said.

Further details about either the plane or the pilot were not immediately available.

As of 3:30 p.m., police and fire rescue crews had cleared the scene.
