Brandon Logan’s second starts help Notre Dame baseball rout UIC

It was a big day for Brandon Logan on Friday, as the dual-sport athlete got his first start for the Notre Dame baseball team and helped them get a win.

He didn’t have a great day at the plate, but with baseball, it’s about how you respond, and Logan did exactly that. Even though he was batting out of the ninth spot, he blasted a grand slam and again helped the Irish get a victory over UIC, 14-3 in 8 innings. Notre Dame now has a three-game winning streak, and will look to continue that on Sunday against Tennessee Tech.

Logan was one of the Irish’s stars for the day, going 3-for-5 with the big blast. Shortstop Noah Coy also had a big game, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, and did second baseman Mason Barth who went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI as well.

On the pitching side, Caden Crowell got the start and went 5.1 inning allowing just two runs with four strikeouts. Noah Rooney took over and finished off the win for Notre Dame.

While it took a few games for the Irish to get going, this team has the making of a NCAA Tournament team, and if they can continue to rack up early season victories, they’ll be in a great spot when conference play begins.
