Fox 2's Amy Andrews addresses on-air absence, medical issues

Fox 2’s Amy Andrews has shared an update on her absence from the station’s airwaves.

“Many of you have noticed I’ve been off the air again, and I wanted to personally share what’s going on,” the Fox 2 News Morning co-anchor wrote on social media Thursday.

“I am currently on physician-directed medical leave as I continue treatment for Dysautonomia, a disorder of the automatic nervous system that affects things like heart rate, blood pressure and circulation,” she wrote. “For me, it can cause dizziness, vision changes, brain fog, and sudden drops in blood pressure, making live television unsafe until it’s properly stabilized.”

Andrews added the decision to be off the air was not taken lightly. “My focus is following my doctors’ guidance so that I can return safely and consistently,” she said.

Andrews returned to the Fox 2 airwaves last September after being off the air for several months due to health-related issues. She was also absent from the station for a brief period in November.

Andrews has been at WJBK-TV (Fox 2) since 2011. She is a Metro Detroit native and a graduate of both Oakland University and Specs Howard.

“I miss our mornings together more than I can say,” Andrews wrote in her post. “Please know I am working hard, I am not giving up, and my goal is to return as soon as I am medically able.”
