The Indianapolis Indians have named Eric Patterson as manager for the 2026, along with new coaches.
Patterson, 42, was the Indians’ bench coach in 2025 after three years in the Chicago Cubs organization.
The Cubs selected him in the eighth round of the 2004 MLB Draft, playing for them and the then-Oakland A’s, Boston Red Sox and San Diego Padres.
New coaches include: J.D. Closser, catching and game planning; Casey Harms, hitting, and Nasusel Cabrera, pitching. Returning coaches include: Eric Munson, hitting; Drew Benes, pitching, and Joe Thatcher.
Closser led Alexandria to the Class 2A Indiana high school baseball championship in 1998, earning Mr. Baseball honors.
The Indians, the Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, start the 2026 season on March 27.
