Monday, Feb. 23 results
CLASS 2A
North Mac RegionalÂ
No. 8 Pleasant Plains 48, No. 9 Pittsfield 39Â
Nolan Scott sparked Pleasant Plains in the first half with three 3-pointers in the second period, and the Cardinals won a quarterfinal game. Â
Plains led 17-9 after one quarter, and Scott helped the Cardinals increase the advantage to 14 points when he nailed back-to-back 3-pointers with less than 1 minute remaining in the first half. The Cardinals led 32-20 at halftime. Â
Pittsfield (15-15) got within 40-34 after three quarters and 42-38 with 1:34 left in the fourth. Owen Johnson then made a pair of free throws, and Scott got loose in the backcourt and scored on a layup to seal it for Plains.Â
Scott finished with four 3s and a game-high 20 points. Johnson made 3 of 4 free throws in the fourth period and scored eight. Â
Pleasant Plains (9-22) plays Quincy Notre Dame (26-1), the No. 1 seed and The Associated Press Class 2A second-ranked state team, in the semifinals at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.    Â
St. Joe Ogden RegionalÂ
No. 7 Pana 66, No. 10 Paris 49Â Â
Pana put four players in double figures and advanced to the semifinals. Â
The Panthers got eight points from Easton Malisia and led 20-8 after one quarter until Paris got within 27-25 at intermission. Pana regained control by burying six of its nine treys in the second half.Â
Madyx Angel knocked down three of his four 3s after halftime and scored a team-high 19 points. Malisia finished with 18 and Cash Lynch added 16. Jax Czaikowski (two 3s) chipped in 10 points.Â
Pana (21-11) plays No. 2 seed Warrensburg-Latham (27-4) at 6 on Wednesday.Â
Roxana RegionalÂ
No. 6 Litchfield 60, No. 11 East Alton Wood River 44Â
Litchfield drilled nine 3-pointers in the first half and built a 41-19 lead at halftime on its way to a quarterfinal victory. Â
Tucker Maguire popped four 3s and Ethan Saathoff hit three from long distance in the first half. Maguire finished with 16 points and Saathoff had 15. Max Leitschuh added 10.Â
Litchfield (16-16) advanced to Wednesday’s semifinals to play No. 3 Alton Marquette (23-6) at 7:30.Â
Williamsville Regional
No. 7 Auburn 56, No. 10 Buffalo Tri-City 34
Auburn, the No. 7 seed, had a big first quarter and defeated No. 10 Buffalo Tri-City 56-34 in the quarterfinals. Â
Auburn led 22-8 after one quarter and 29-14 at halftime. The Trojans (14-17) play No. 2 Williamsville (21-8) in the semifinals at 6 on Wednesday. Â
Also in the quarterfinals, No. 6 Riverton downed No. 11 Beardstown 70-45. The Hawks (17-11) meet No. 3 Rochester (16-12) in Wednesday’s second semifinal at 7:30.Â
Carlinville RegionalÂ
No. 8 Piasa Southwestern 63, No. 9 Hillsboro 60 (2OT) Â
Southwestern outscored Hillsboro 10-4 late in the second overtime and pulled out a quarterfinal win. Â
Hillsboro led 13-9 after one quarter and 24-23 at halftime. Southwestern rallied in the third and took a 42-37 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Mark Mattson’s 3-pointer for Hillsboro tied the game at 47-all with 1:55 remaining in regulation, and a layup by Eli Zaidi with 4.1 seconds, sent the game into its first overtime tied at 51.Â
The first OT ended with a 53-53 tie after a desperate shot beyond halfcourt by Hillsboro fell short. The Hiltoppers led 56-53 to begin double overtime, but Southwestern forged ahead 60-59 in the final minute and made 3 of 4 free throws for a four-point advantage. Hillsboro had a 3-point attempt to tie up the score, but the shot bounced off the rim as time expired. Â
Southwestern (14-18) advanced to the semifinals and will play No. 1 seed Staunton (27-3) at 6 on Wednesday.    Â
In another Carlinville regional quarterfinal, No. 5 Glen Carbon Father McGivney eliminated No. 12 Gillespie 56-39. Father McGivney (19-13) plays No. 4 Carlinville (18-12) at 7:30 on Wednesday.Â
CLASS 1A
New Berlin RegionalÂ
No. 4 New Berlin 69, No. 14 Greenview 22Â
Reid Hepperly led a balanced attack with 11 points, and the Pretzels moved on with a quarterfinal win.Â
Max Pointer and Carson Dodd contributed nine points each for New Berlin (22-9), which faces South County (20-11) in the semifinals at 7:30 on Wednesday. Â
No. 5 South County 54, No. 12 Barry Western 29Â
Led by Drew Johnson’s 16 points, the Vipers had four players in double figures and advanced to meet New Berlin in the semis. Â
Jace Woods dropped three 3-pointers and joined teammate Brody Mefford with 11 points apiece. Collin Johnson had two 3s and scored 10 for the Vipers. Â
Athens, seeded ninth, advanced in the New Berlin Regional with a 62-60 win over No. 8 Liberty. Athens led 49-36 after three quarters before Liberty attempted a comeback.  Â
The Warriors (18-12) meet top-seeded Jacksonville Routt (26-4) in the semifinals at 6.   Â
Bunker Hill RegionalÂ
No. 6 Nokomis 73, No. 11 Dupo 21Â
Konnor Reynolds went 9-for-11 from the field and scored a game-high 20 points with five rebounds to lead Nokomis to a quarterfinal win. Â
Carter Wexstten made 4 of 6 shots, including two 3-pointers, and scored all 14 of his points in the first half. Luke Eisenbarth and Kadynn Petty hit two 3s apiece and scored 10 and nine points, respectively. Â
Nokomis (18-14) plays No. 3 Bunker Hill (22-7), which defeated No. 14 Mount Olive 57-22, in the semifinals at 7:30 on Wednesday. Cole Yates scored 17, and Bryce Yates produced 10 points in Bunker Hill’s win.  Â
Also, in the Bunker Hill Regional, No. 7 Edinburg defeated No. 10 Madison 54-43. Â
Edinburg (16-12) plays No. 2 Carlyle (19-13), which beat No. 15 Mulberry Grove 83-35, in the semifinals at 6 on Wednesday. Â
Carrollton Regional
No. 5 Pawnee 59, No. 12 Raymond Lincolnwood 41
Pawnee advanced to the semifinals with a 59-41 victory over No. 12 Raymond Lincolnwood. Â
Pawnee (18-13), seeded fifth, plays No. 4 seed Carrollton (16-14) at 7:30 on Wednesday. Carrollton defeated White Hall North Greene 55-48. Â
Decatur St. Teresa Regional
No. 5 Mount Pulaski 55, No. 12 Fisher 43
Mount Pulaski, the fifth seed, reached the semifinals by beating No. 12 Fisher 55-43 in the quarterfinals. Â
The Hilltoppers (17-10) play No. 13 Urbana University (11-13) at 7:30 on Wednesday. Urbana upset No. 4 Armstrong 59-58 in the quarterfinals.  Â
Payson Seymour Regional
No. 6 Concord Triopia 58, No. 11 Lutheran 49
Lutheran, the 11th seed, ended its season with a 10-20 record by falling to No. 6 Concord Triopia 58-49 in the quarterfinals. Â
Triopia (17-15) plays No. 3 seed Mount Sterling Brown County in the semifinals at 7:30 on Wednesday. Brown County (20-10) defeated Payson-Seymour 68-35.
Tremont Regional
No. 11 Camp Point Central 60, No. 6 Mason City Illini Central 46
Camp Point Central, the 11th seed, knocked out No. 6 Mason City Illini Central 60-46 to advance.Â
Illini Central finished 11-19, while Camp Point (7-19) moved on and will play No. 3 seed Sciotia West Prairie (25-6) at 7:30 on Wednesday.  Â
Rushville-Industry RegionalÂ
No. 8 Havana 45, No. 9 Rushville-Industry 44Â
Carter Brooks scored 10 points and Jack Turner added nine as the Ducks nipped the Rockets in the quarterfinals. Â
Havana (12-14) plays No. 1 seed Deer Creek-Mackinaw (23-6) in the semifinals at 6 on Wednesday. Deer Creek-Mackinaw handled No. 16 Hartsburg-Emden 75-31. Â
Rushville-Industry (10-16) got a game-high 16 points from Carter Fretueg to end its season.
