Here are 13 fish fries to check out in the Springfield area this year

Lent is officially underway which means fish fry season is upon us.

Several groups across the Springfield area are hosting fish fries leading up to Easter Sunday in April.

Here are some to check out this year.

The Mess Hall Restaurant

Address: 1120 Sangamon Ave., Springfield

Price: A three-piece walleye dinner is $12.50 plus tax, while the all-you-can-eat is $13.95. Walleye comes with fries and side salads can be ordered for extra.

Hours and dates: Lunch and dinner lent specials are available every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday until April 5.

Little Flower Men’s Club 

Address: 900 Stevenson Drive, Springfield

Price: $14 for fries or baked potato with fish or shrimp and hush puppies. Kids meals are $6 and can come with grilled cheese or chicken tenders. Mini donuts are $3.  

Hours and dates: 5 to 7 p.m., Fridays, Feb. 20 to March 27

Firefighters Lake Club 

Address: 940 W. Lake Shore Drive, Springfield

Price: $13 for all you can eat deep-fried walleye, Cajun buttered shrimp is $12 cooked to order, with kid’s plates of hot dogs, walleye and chicken tenders at $6. All dinners include fires, coleslaw and coffee with a dessert. 

Hours and dates: 5 to 7:30 p.m., Fridays, Feb. 20 to April 3

Elks Lodge 

Address: 409 E. Lake Shore Drive, Springfield

Price: $13.50 for all you can eat fried walleye or shrimp with coleslaw and fries for adults, while kids eat for $7.50. Each Friday a 50/50 drawing will also be held every Friday at the end of the night for gift baskets.

Hours and dates: 5 to 7:30 p.m., Fridays, Feb. 20 to April 3

Aqua Sports Club 

Address: 1 Club Area, Springfield

Price: Battered walleye, French fries, coleslaw and a drink range in price from $8 to $14.

Hours and dates: 6 to 8 p.m., Fridays, Feb. 20 to April 3

Anchor Boat Club 

Address: 407 E. Lake Drive, Springfield

Price: Prices are not listed yet on the Anchor Boat Club website, but if prices are similar to last year, then options will include three pieces of fried or baked fish served with sides. Shrimp or fish platters both cost $13 in 2025. 

Hours and dates: 5:30 to 8 p.m., Fridays, Feb. 20 to March 27

St. John Vianney Parish Knights of Columbus Council

Address: 902 St. John’s Drive, Sherman

Price: Adult dinners include a choice of walleye, catfish, shrimp or chicken strips and comes with coleslaw and baked or fried potatoes. The cost of an adult meal in 2025 was $10. Children’s dinners feature the same entrees for $5 with desserts and pop extra. 

Hours and dates: 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Fridays, Feb. 20 to March 27

Rochester Knights of Columbus 9640

Address: St. Jude Catholic Parish Center, 633 S. Walnut St., Rochester

Price: All-you-can eat meals (dining room only) include fish (fried or baked), baked potato or fries, mac and cheese, coleslaw, dessert and drink, $15, $6 (kids). Drive-thru special includes four-pack special for $50. Fish tacos on March 20 and March 27 (dining room only). Kids meals available.

Hours and dates: Feb. 20 to March 27 (5 to 7:30 p.m. dining room; 5 to 7 p.m. drive-thru)

Locals Bar and Restaurant

Address: 605-611 Douglas St., Pawnee

Dinners: All-you-can-eat hand-breaded walleye or catfish curls, served with chips, bread, pickles and onions. Lunch specials also available.

Hours: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays

Corner Pub

Address: 3271 W. Iles Ave., Springfield

Dinners: Lenten menu includes seasoned breaded walleye; whole catfish; beer battered cod; grilled salmon; mahi-mahi; panko encrusted baked crab cake; hand breaded, Cajun, grilled or lemon peppered shrimp; fish shoes; fish or shrimp tacos; fish or shrimp po’boy; seafood roll; tuna melt and seafood mac and cheese. All dinners come with sides.

Hours: Daily 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Full dinner menu until 10 p.m. daily

Waverly American Legion Post 262

Address: 136 E. State St., Waverly

Dinners: Buffalo, walleye and catfish dinners with baked beans, coleslaw and potato salad, dessert and drink. For carry outs and delivery, call 217-435-4951.

Hours: 5 to 7 p.m.

Lincoln Knights of Columbus Council 1250

Address: 217 Limit St., Lincoln

Dinner: Whole catfish meals ($14), walleye filet and fried shrimp meals ($12), all come with baked potato and coleslaw. Dine-in or carry out.

Hours and dates: 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 20, March 6, March 20, April 3

Staunton VFW Post 1241

Address: 120 E. Henry St., Staunton

Dinner: White fish, catfish filets, shrimp (six) dinners, all $13. Chicken strips (four) $11. Dinners come with two sides, French fries, potato salad, mac and cheese or coleslaw. Desserts provided by the Merry Pie Makers.
