Dense fog will last through Columbus morning commute, NWS says

Dense fog in central Ohio will hamper visibility through the Columbus morning commute, the National Weather Service warns.

In a dense fog advisory issued 2:25 a.m. Feb. 16, the National Weather Service in Wilmington said the fog would reduce visibility to zero at times, and drivers will need to remain cautious until late morning. The advisory ends at 11 a.m.

The NWS also said temperatures may drop below freezing until daybreak, which could cause freezing fog and icy conditions on elevated roadways like bridges and overpasses.

People should slow down and maintain safe distances between vehicles, the NWS said.

On bridges and overpasses with temperatures below freezing, drivers should maintain steady speeds without accelerating or stopping quickly if possible so their vehicles do not slide on ice, the NWS said.
