Texas A&M basketball experienced a Valentine’s Day heartbreak on Saturday afternoon, as the program dropped its fourth-straight SEC contest against the Vanderbilt Commodores in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Aggies struggled to find a rhythm against another physical conference squad, which has been a consistent theme in the recent string of losses. Inconsistent free-throw shooting and foul trouble in the second half prevented Texas A&M from inching its way back into the contest. Bucky McMillan’s unit closed the gap with five minutes remaining, but Vanderbilt’s Tyler Nickel could not be stopped, as he knocked down five three-pointers and scored 25 points against the Aggies.
Now, Texas A&M must turn its attention to Ole Miss, which will visit Reed Arena on Wednesday night. There is still much basketball left to be played, but March Madness hopes continue to fall with each conference loss.
