Daytona 500 live updates, NASCAR Truck race highlights, TV channel

DAYTONA BEACH — Friday, Feb. 13, will bring the most intriguing NASCAR Truck Series lineup in a long time to Daytona International Speedway.

Racing legend Tony Stewart, American action hero Travis Pastrana and YouTube sensation Cleetus McFarland will make one-off appearances. For Stewart, it will be his first NASCAR race in 10 years. Pastrana hasn’t made a start since the 2023 Daytona 500.

The event will also include four Cup Series regulars (Carson Hocevar, Michael McDowell, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and John Hunter Nemechek), plus a whole host of other notables like actor and full-time Trucker Frankie Muniz. The Fresh from Florida 250 is officially scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Before then, the ARCA cars will qualify at 1:30 p.m. The Trucks will do the same at 3. The O’Reilly and Cup drivers will hit the track for practice at 4:30 and 5:35, respectively.

The race is underway. And the first wreck belongs to Cleetus McFarland.

The YouTube sensation got loose coming out of Turn 4, spins to the inside and hit hard on the wall. His window net is down, and the caution is out.

Jake Bollman failed post-qualifying inspection and was moved out of the front spot. Gus Dean (25) will instead start on the pole.

Pole qualifying over for Daytona NASCAR truck race

Ty Majeski will start from the pole in tonight’s NASCAR Truck Series race at Daytona. Michael McDowell will start on his outside on Row 1 for the 100-lap, 250-mile race.

Majeski’s pole-winning lap took just under 51 seconds and he averaged 176.883 mph. 

Fox’s Mike Joy receives Myers Brothers Award

Fox Sports broadcaster is the latest winner of the prestigious Myers Brothers Award, given annually to an individual or group for outstanding contributions to stock-car racing.

The award is presented by the National Motorsports Press Association and was first presented in 1958. It’s named for early NASCAR pioneers Billy and Bobby Myers. 

Joy, who began as a radio broadcaster for the Motor Racing Network, is broadcasting his 47th Daytona 500 this year. He’s beginning his 26th season as Fox’s lead announcer for NASCAR.

Bart Simpson named Daytona 500 honorary starter

Bart Simpson will wave the green flag for the 2026 Daytona 500.

Daytona International Speedway announced the iconic animated sitcom character from “The Simpsons” as the honorary starter Friday, Feb. 13.

“It’s an honor to have Bart Simpson, an American icon of pop culture, serve as our honorary starter for the 68th running of the Daytona 500,” Speedway President Frank Kelleher said. “Bart’s historic run of pranks and mischief on Fox for over 30 years has provided laughs for all ages. There’s no doubt that he’s going to have an absolute blast waving the green flag for The Great American Race.”

ARCA qualifying results: Starting lineup set for Saturday race

In the No. 20 car, Jake Bollman won the pole for Saturday’s ARCA race. He laid down the fastest lap in 49:122 seconds.

The Fresh from Florida 250 lines up to be a fun one.

Among the drivers in the field are Tony Stewart, Travis Pastrana, Cleetus McFarland and Frankie Muniz. That doesn’t even mention the four full-time Cup Series drivers making starts, too.
