Breathing life into the old, this new Lubbock antique shop is turning heads with its name, layout and offerings.
Dead People’s Stuff, 4012 34th St., opened in January with an idea of doing something different. Shoppers won’t find shelves lined with jumbled wares, instead every item is carefully placed in a manner one would at home.
What is Dead People’s Stuff?
The name was chosen because it had a bit of an edge, and connects to where some of the items come from. Items can come from a mix of places, including estate sales, road trips, garage sales and donated items.
“It didn’t sound like you were getting stuff out of your grandma’s attic,” said A. Kim Cronk, store proprietor. “I wanted a name that, even if you weren’t sure what we had, it would pique your curiosity.”

Instead of vendors with separate stalls, Dead People’s Stuff’s six-person cooperative team has their items displayed together. This team, including Cronk, has decades of experience in the antique world. Cronk said this staging style allows for more floor space, and gets people out of their aesthetic box.
“It shows that you can mix styles, the old with the new, and you get the opportunity to see it in a form like this,” said A. Kim Cronk, store proprietor. “We like to think our store has everything from antiques to vintage to contemporary. And the whole point is, when you have this style of a store, it shows you how all those things can work together.”
What is at Dead People’s Stuff Lubbock?
Customers can walk through the shop and see artwork hung on dark blue walls, ornate cabinets stocked with antique glassware, desks that look like you can sit at and start working, and other items.
“No matter what your style is, you’re going to find something in here that goes with it,” said Eddie Maddox, one of the vendors. “People come in on their lunch hour to unwind. You can stroll through here and kind of get their mind off of everything else.”
The inventory is constantly changing as the team finds new items through estate sales, road trips, donated items and other methods.
“I kind of think we are preserving history,” said Judy Palmer, vendor. “Most of our objects have some kind of history, a soul. So somebody can walk in and buy a piece of furniture and then leave with this new story to go with it. We have a lot of old things to bring new life to people.”
Where is Dead People’s Stuff Lubbock?
The location at 4012 34th St. was chosen for several reasons, including that it had been an antique store previously. The standalone building and its manageably large size also lent itself to being the right fit for Dead People’s Stuff.
When is Dead People’s Stuff open?
The store is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
People can keep up with Dead People’s Stuff on Facebook and Instagram.
