Vote for lohud Girls Basketball Player of the Week, presented by White Plains Hospital

This was the second to last full week of the regular season so, of course, the stakes were raised a bit with some teams hoping for a late push to secure playoff berths and others jockeying for seeding. Within that grind were several excellent individual performances, producing for us 12 candidates for Girls Basketball Player of the Week, presented by White Plains Hospital.

Our previous poll winners this season were Abby Nadborny (Scarsdale), Maria Ribeiro (Hen Hud), Jade Jackson (White Plains), Phoebe Greto (Rye), Riley Waters (Lakeland), Peyton Forde (Harvey School), Elyse Smith (Hen Hud) and Eliana Contreras (Somers).

Read below about what the nominees accomplished last week, then cast your votes. The poll will be open until 3 p.m. Wednesday and the winner will be featured on lohud sports social media accounts.

Maddie Becerra, Pleasantville

The sophomore averaged 14.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and three assists last week, leading the surging Panthers to quality wins over Hen Hud, Rye Neck and Brewster.

Sabrina Caballero, Roosevelt

The senior scored a career-high 37 points and had five steals and four assists to lead Roosevelt in a win over the Obama School.

Reese Carlo, Kennedy Catholic

She scored 29 points, including eight 3-pointers, for the Gaels in a 71-55 win over Monsignor McClancy last Saturday. Carlo also had 28 points, five steals, four rebounds and three assists to lead them in a win over Cardinal Spellman on Tuesday.

Arianna Dalal, Egdemont

The sophomore averaged 28 points in two games last week, including scoring 30 against North Salem on Friday.

Cara Doherty, Tuckahoe

The junior had 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Tigers in a 66-62 win over North Rockland on Saturday. She also had 12 points, 15 rebounds, four assists and four steals to lead them in a win over Bronxville.

Sophia Faraci, Port Chester

The sophomore scored a season-high 35 points to lead the Rams in a win over Poughkeepsie.

Kendall Konigsberg, Blind Brook

The senior averaged 23.3 points, 11 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 2.3 assists in four games last week and led the Trojans to wins over Ardsley and Rye Neck.

Claire Schnecker, Ossining

The senior had 22 points, 20 rebounds, four steals and three assists in the Pride’s win over Irvington on Saturday in Ossining’s annual Pauline Ricci Tournament. Schnecker also had 21 points, 20 rebounds and two blocks in their loss to Clarkstown South, and eclipsed 1,000 career points in a win over Ursuline.

Julia Scott, Albertus Magnus

She had 23 points, 23 rebounds, three assists and a season-high eight blocks for the Falcons in a win over Suffern. The senior could break the Rockland County record of 2,155 career points this week.

Colleen Sheehy, Pelham

She averaged 19.6 points, seven rebounds and 3.3 assists per game last week, leading the Pelicans to wins over Ketcham, Eastchester and Ursuline. Sheehy dropped a season-high 31 points, including eight in the fourth quarter, to spark their 65-61 comeback win over Ursuline.

Carley Voce, Clarkstown South

The Lafayette-bound senior had 16 points, nine rebounds, four blocks, three assists and two steals for the Vikings in a 58-46 win over Ossining. She also scored 23 points in a loss to Scarsdale.

Stella Ziogas, New Rochelle

The Siena-bound senior had 19 points, six rebounds, six assists and five steals for the Huguenots in a win over Mount Vernon.
