The high school wrestling postseason began Saturday with multiple league tournaments hitting the mat. Next, Michigan High School Athletic Association team district and individual district tournament will pepper the calendar in the coming week.

Interstate 8 Conference
Host Harper Creek finished first at the Interstate 8 Conference championship meet with 207 team points with Jackson Northwest taking second at 178. Coldwater was fifth at 97, with Marshall sixth and Pennfield seventh.
Harper Creek had six league champs and had 12 wrestlers place in the top four.
Grayson Damron (106 pounds), Camren Brock (120), Carson Andrews (126), Devan Garcia (132), Israel Waite (144), Sean Johnson (215) all won their weight division for the Beavers. Jackson Pennock (138) and Leo Ott (157) each were second with Hunter Govier (144), Amaree Armstrong (150), Landen Sawyer (165) and Dayton Wheeler (175) each took fourth.
Marshall’s Harland Begg finished first at 285 pounds. The Redhawks had one wrestler take second, including Dayne Rewa (120). Also placing for Marshall was Cayden Hardwick (215) in third and Maxwell Romeri (106), Talon Hartle (132) , Landon Vella (138), Colin Stealy (190) all taking fourth.
Pennfield’s Izaiah Higdon had the highest finish for the Panthers, finishing second at 144. Also for the Panthers, Reese Correnti (120) took fourth.
Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference
Gull Lake finished first at the Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference championship meet with 190 points. Battle Creek Central was eighth and Lakeview was 10th.
Gull Lake had four champions, including Lyric Warner (126), Rasler Warner (132), Kaius Juusela (138), Jack Stucky (150).
Battle Creek Central’s Jordan Roe finished first at 285 pounds to improve to 26-1 on the season. Also placing for the Bearcats was Cory Wells (215) taking second.
Big Eight
Springport won the Big Eight championship meet with 171 team points. Bronson was second at 162.5 with Union City third at 94.
Bronson had five champions in the meet, including Brycen Fincham (157), Caleb Harvey (165), Gabriel Erwin (175), Layne Knisely (190), Sam Tappenden (285).
Union City had one champ in Blayne Crance at 132.
Team Districts
Battle Creek Central will host a Division 1 team district tournament at 6 p.m. Wednesday. BCC will face Loy Norrix in the first round. Lakeview will see Hastings in the other semifinal. The winners will meet in the district final at 7:30 p.m.
Harper Creek, Marshall will compete in a Division 2 team district at Parma Western at 5 p.m. Thursday. Harper Creek will see Parma Western in the first round. Marshall will get Eaton Rapids in the other semifinal. The winners will advance to the district final at 6:30 p.m.
In another Division 2 team district, Gull Lake will be at Plainwell. Gull Lake will see Paw Paw in the first round of the three-team tournament. Host Plainwell will wait for the winner in the finals.
Pennfield will compete in a Division 3 team district at Bronson. Host Bronson will see Pennfield in one semifinal, set for 6 p.m. In the other semifinal, Quincy will wrestle Hillsdale.
Climax-Scotts, Bellevue and Galesburg-Augusta will compete in a Division 4 district at Bellevue. Climax-Scotts gets host Bellevue in the first round with Galesburg-Augusta wrestling Maple Valley.
