Taylor Heise, sister of Iowa State's Nate Heise, scores for USA hockey

Saturday was a big day for the Heise family.

While Nate Heise may be more well-known than his sister in Ames, Taylor Heise is an international hockey superstar. The forward is a member of Team USA and scored a goal during a 5-0 win over Finland on Saturday, just hours before her brother took the court against the Bears back in Iowa.

The Americans put together a smooth counterattack after Finland had the puck in the offensive zone. Abbey Murphy pushed down the ice and found Heise with a nice cross-ice pass. Heise had a wide-open net and hammered it home to put Team USA up 2-0 early in the second period.

When she’s not representing the stars and stripes, Taylor Heise takes the ice for the Minnesota Frost of the Professional Women’s Hockey League. The Lake City, Minnesota, native played at the University of Minnesota and has won two PWHL titles with the Frost, in 2024 and 2025.

In 2024, Heise was named the Ilana Kloss Playoff MVP.

Heise and Team USA (2-0) will hit the ice again on Monday when they take on Switzerland. Puck drop is scheduled for 1:40 p.m. CT.
