Local officials are still trying to locate the family of an elderly man killed in a Davenport crash on Jan. 23.
A 71-year-old man from Ontario, Canada, was killed in a two-vehicle crash that occurred in Northeast Polk County.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a traffic accident at 8:49 p.m. on Ronald Reagan Parkway at the Loma Del Sol community in Davenport.
Upon preliminary investigation, deputies found the Canadian man had been driving a 2025 Chrysler Pacifica east on Ronald Reagan Parkway. A 22-year-old Clermont woman was traveling west in a 2019 BMW sedan on the parkway.
The man attempted to make a left turn onto Loma Del Sol Drive, crossing in front of the oncoming BMW sedan. The two vehicles collided.
The 71-year-old man was taken by Polk County Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries. The other driver was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Ronald Reagan Parkway was shut down in the area of the crash for about three hours on Jan. 23.
No criminal charges are anticipated in connection with the accident, according to PCSO, but the investigation is ongoing.
