Los Angeles Rams linebacker Byron Young had the best season of his career in 2025, as he finished 82 tackles (12 for a loss), 29 quarterback hits, 12.0 sacks and a forced fumble.
The 27-year-old was a quarterback’s nightmare, as he was ferocious, and when he wasn’t getting home, he was helping Jared Verse do so on the opposite side, leading to both making the Pro Bowl.
While appearing on Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take,” New Orleans Saints rookie quarterback Tyler Shough said that Young gave him his welcome-to-the-NFL hit.
“Byron Young almost broke my jaw, in my first start against the Rams,” Shough said. “He came, did a little ghost move, went underneath and hit me right on the chinstrap. I couldn’t close my jaw for a week, and I had to get needles. That was a good one. You didn’t see that one coming. Those pass rushers on the Rams are elite.”
Young needs to bring that same energy in the postseason, and he’ll have a chance to deliver some big hits against Bryce Young in their wild-card matchup with the Carolina Panthers. Young recorded one sack in their first meeting earlier this year.
