Michigan Wolverines player availability report for Texas game is out

ORLANDO, Fla. — There have been a number of questions whether Michigan football would have a full complement of players against Texas in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl. The Longhorns have a fair amount of public opt-outs, but the Wolverines? Only three. Yet, the maize and blue could be much more shorthanded than that. Even interim coach Biff Poggi acknowledged that on Tuesday.

“There are opt-outs and there are opt-outs, right?” Poggi said. “There are different kinds of opt-outs. We have three that were starters, two on defense, one on offense, who declared they were opting out. Now we have some others that this week have decided not to play based on injuries. Our number is probably more like 12 to 15 in actuality.”

Even so, it’s a far cry from 25, as he said on a Texas podcast last week.

So who are those injury opt-outs? The Big Ten released Michigan’s player availability for the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl and here is who may or may not be available due to injuries.
