Indoor pickleball is among 6 fun weekend events around Galesburg

The weekend brings a Family Witbit Swim and Backstabbin’ Betty, along with fundraisers, live music and more to the Galesburg area.

Indoor Pickleball

What: Enjoy drop-in play on the three pickleball courts at Hawthorne Gym. All skill levels are welcome. Must be 14 years old or older.

When: 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 26

Where: Lakeside Recreation Facility, 1033 Lake Storey Road, Galesburg

Cost: $5

Exercise Group

What: All ages are welcome. Seniors are encouraged to join in this exercise group session. The exercise group follows instructional DVD videos.

When: 8:30 to 10 a.m. Dec. 26

Where: Clover Public Library District, 440 N. Division St., Woodhull

Science Saturday: Density Towers

What: Explore how density works and experiment with different objects.

When: 12:30 to 2 p.m. Dec. 27

Where: Discovery Depot, 128 S. Chambers St., Galesburg

Cost: Free with admission

Witbit Swim

What: Come a special family swim. A partial WiBit will be in the water and available for use by all level swimmers. The diving board will not be open. Swimmers age 8 and younger must have an adult within arms’ reach at all times unless a swim test is passed. Swimmers age 12 and younger must have an adult in the building at all times.

When: 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 27

Where: Hawthorne Pool, 2331 Veterans Drive, Galesburg

Cost: $5

Backstabbin’ Betty

What: Christmas is over so it’s time to rock out and party with Backstabbin’ Betty.

When: 8 p.m. to midnight Dec. 27

Where: The Corral, 1685 Grand Ave., Galesburg

Indoor Mobile Playground

What: There will be a variety of toys and activities to challenge and entertain children and adults. Enjoy giant frisbee, jumbo Connect 4 or another large game (inflatable game or obstacle course). Pre-registration is encouraged, but drop-ins are allowed, as space permits. Please register each person individually. All ages are welcome. Adults can stay in the play court area or walk around the tennis courts while their children play if direct supervision is not required. Adults must stay in the facility while minors are playing.

When: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 27

Where: Lakeside Recreation Facility, 1033 Lake Storey Road, Galesburg

Cost: $5 for ages 3-12; free for ages 2 and younger

What: Craft a melting snowman.

Countdown to Noon

What: There will be crafts, games and a countdown to a balloon drop at noon.

When: 10:30 a.m. to noon Dec. 31

Where: Discovery Depot, 128 S. Chambers St., Galesburg

Cost: $9.50; $6.50 for members

New Year’s Eve Celebration

What: There will be music, dancing, photo opportunities and sparkly cocktails. At midnight, there will be champagne and a balloon/confetti drop.

When: 7 p.m. Dec. 31

Where: The Bar 65, 65 S. Cherry St., Galesburg

Noon Year’s Eve Celebration

What: Enjoy kids’ activities, festive photo opportunities, sparkling grape juice and a balloon drop at noon in addition to the breakfast buffet. Celebrate with the whole family at this kid-friendly countdown.

When: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 31

Where: Hy-Vee, 2030 E. Main St., Galesburg

Cost: $10; free for children age 12 and younger with an adult brunch purchase

New Year’s Eve

What: Catch Whiskey Ridge live from 8 p.m. to midnight. Ring in the new year with live country hits, cold drinks and your friends. There will be a countdown at midnight.

When: 8 p.m. to midnight Dec. 31

Where: Cactus Country, 3075 W. Main St., Galesburg
