The Jaguars acquired Meyers from the Las Vegas Raiders at the NFL trade deadline for fourth and sixth-round draft picks in 2026.

With the news still fresh, let’s highlight three quick observations from the latest Jaguars’ news.

Jakobi Meyers makes a quick impact and impression

Meyers has played just six games with the Jaguars, but the team’s long-term commitment to him speaks volumes. When the Jaguars first traded for Meyers, GM James Gladstone mentioned that his reliability as a pass-catcher was his superpower.

We have since seen that ability on display. While the Jaguars struggled with drops through the first half of the season, the addition of Meyers has provided needed stability in that regard.

Along with his sure hands, Meyers is an excellent fit for Liam Coen’s offensive scheme. This stems from his willingness to help in the run game and threaten the middle and intermediate levels of the field. Meyers can also line up inside and out — another important aspect to playing wideout in this offense.

Among all wideouts since Week 10, Meyers is 12th in receiving yards and 10th in yards per route run, according to PFF.

Where does Meyers’ new contract rank among wide receivers?

As mentioned, this extension is worth $60 million in total and includes $40 million guaranteed. Meyers was originally going to be a free agent this upcoming offseason. That, however, is no longer the case.

At an average annual value of $20 million, Meyers is currently set to enter the 2026 season as the 24th-highest-paid wide receiver, according to Spotrac.

In terms of guaranteed money, Meyers’ $40 million will rank 23rd.

Jaguars solidify wide receiver position for foreseeable future

Along with Meyers being under contract through the 2028 season, Brian Thomas Jr. still has two years left on his rookie deal in 2026, plus a fifth-year option.

Travis Hunter will only be entering Year 2 of his four-year rookie deal in 2026, along with having a fifth-year option as well.

Parker Washington is under contract through the 2026 season.
