The center will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. both days.
All other City of Akron community centers will be closed on Sunday and open during their normal business hours Monday.
The Emergency Overnight Shelter located at 111 East Voris St. will be open from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 12; Saturday, Dec. 13; Sunday, Dec. 14; and Monday, Dec. 15.

The center provides food, shelter and clothing. The shelter is open when overnight temperatures are expected to be 25 degrees or colder.
You can find more information about their services at https://www.akronemergencyshelter.org/. They will continue evaluating temperatures beyond Dec. 15 and extend as needed.
In a Dec. 12 prepared statement, Malik said community centers don’t have the infrastructure necessary to house people over night, but free transportation to the emergency shelter will be provided.
Akron Metro RTA has waived fares on all ADA, SCAT, and METRO Direct routes through the end of 2025. This includes routes from the warming center to the emergency overnight shelter. Learn more at www.yourmetrobus.org.
“Make sure to check on your neighbors and older family members as these colder temperatures move in and call 2-1-1 if you or someone you know need assistance,” Malik said.
