One Peoria-area girls basketball program will get an opportunity to play in an iconic gymnasium.
Washington will take on Breese Central at the Hoosier Gym at 10 a.m. Dec. 13. This game pits a pair of programs that posted a combined record of 66-5 last season. Breese Central went 30-3, losing to eventual Class 2A state champion Nashville in a sectional championship.

The Panthers, who were 36-2 and finished third in Class 3A, join two other Peoria-area programs — Lewistown and Illini Central, which are playing at Hoosier Gym in a boys-girls doubleheader on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026. The girls will play at 4 p.m. with a boys tipping off at 5:30 p.m.
Hoosier Gym was the fictional home gym of Hickory High in the classic 1986 basketball movie “Hoosiers.”
Hoosier Gym, also a museum and community center, is located about 40 miles east of Indianapolis, at 355 N Washington St. in Knightstown.
