Law enforcement procession to escort IRCSO deputy's body to medical examiner

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The body of 25-year veteran Indian River County Sheriff’s Deputy Terri Mashkow, 47, who died in the line of duty Nov. 21, will be escorted by a multitude of law enforcement vehicles to the medical examiner’s office in Fort Pierce.

She died during what Sheriff Eric Flowers described as an “everyday call” that left another deputy and a locksmith also wounded after a man started “indiscriminately” shooting at them during the serving of an eviction notice in the morning at the Bermuda Bay development south of the Wabasso Causeway, according to Sheriff Eric Flowers.

Also wounded were Deputy Tino Arizpe, who was shot in the shoulder and an unidentified locksmith. The wounded, including the man accused in the shooting, Michael Halberstam, 37, were in surgery at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital. Sgt. Gary Farless was not injured.

The route, expected to start from Wabasso sometime after 3:30 p.m. is:

∎West on County Road 510 to CR 512

∎West to Interstate 95

∎South to Okeechobee Road

∎ East to the 19th District Medical Examiner’s Office at 2500 s 35th St., Fort Pierce.
