Does Davis Mills have one more ride left in him?
The Houston Texans take on the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football at NRG Stadium, with a chance to move into position for the AFC Playoffs. With a win, Houston would move to 6-5 on the season and into the limelight for the No. 7 seed in the postseason.
Head coach DeMeco Ryans officially ruled out quarterback C.J. Stroud for Thursday’s contest against the Buffalo Bills. The Texans will turn to Mills for a third straight start, hoping to see him move to 3-0 on the year as QB1.
The Texans also ruled out safety Jalen Pitre, who returned to practice on Monday from the concussion protocol.
“Both guys are progressing, they’re doing better,” Ryans said. “But right now, with the short-turnaround game on Thursday, just don’t have enough days for those guys to be available.”
The Bills are coming off a dominant 44-32 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, improving to 7-3 behind Josh Allen’s MVP outing. Allen became the first NFL player to finish with two passing TDs and a rushing score. Overall, he scored six touchdowns, including three with his legs.
The Texans are 4.5-point home favorites against the Bills, according to BetMGM. Can they pull it out, move to 6-5 and somewhat salvage their season entering next week’s divisional round matchup against the Indianapolis Colts?
