Last week, USC came in at No. 18 in the USA TODAY US LBM Coaches Poll. Following their victory over Iowa Saturday, the Trojans moved up two spots, and are now ranked No. 16.
USC jumped ahead of Texas, who was blown out by Georgia on Saturday evening. In addition, the Trojans notably moved past Michigan, who has the same record as USC and whom the Trojans have a victory over.
The Trojans were ahead of the Wolverines in the College Football Playoff rankings and the AP Poll each of the past two weeks, but this marks the first week that the coaches followed suit. Michigan needed a last-second field goal to beat Northwestern on Saturday, the same Wildcats team that USC defeated by three touchdowns last week’s rankings after. The Wolverines remained at No. 17 in this week’s poll.
Elsewhere in the Big Ten, Ohio State and Indiana held firm atop the rankings at No. 1 and No. 2 respectively. Meanwhile, Oregon rose one spot and is now ranked No. 5. The Trojans will have a massive opportunity to earn a top-five road victory when they travel to Eugene this upcoming week.
