Cincinnati Bengals Pro Bowl wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase is appealing his one-game suspension by the NFL following his altercation with Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey on Nov. 16, a source told The Enquirer.

Once a player is suspended in the NFL, they have five business days to appeal the NFL’s decision. Any appeal will be heard and decided upon by either Derrick Brooks, Ramon Foster, or Jordy Nelson, the hearing officers jointlyappointed and compensated by the NFL and NFLPA to decide appeals of on-field player discipline.

Chase denied spitting on Ramsey following the game. The NFL announced the punishment for Chase on Nov. 17 after a viral video of Chase spitting on Ramsey surfaced. Ramsey was ejected from the game after throwing a punch on Chase.

Chase is set to miss the Bengals’ upcoming game against the New England Patriots barring a successful appeal. If Chase’s appeal is unsuccessful, his one-game suspesnion will cost him a total of $507,156, his weekly paycheck and active bonus combined.
